AADHAR KENDRA CHILD SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM

The Sponsorship Program is dedicated to creating a brighter future for children from marginalized communities who lack access to basic necessities. While Deep Griha supports many children in the community, we have identified a particularly vulnerable group: those who have lost one or both parents. Although many of these orphaned children are taken in by extended family, the added strain on resources often forces them to work, interrupting their childhood. In our increasingly globalized world, quality education and caring supports are essential for children’s growth and development. Sponsoring both basic and educational needs for a child costs $285 annually and provides a very tangible way to change a child’s experience in life now and for a lifetime.

By sponsoring a child through this program, you can play a vital role in their journey toward a brighter future. Deep Griha fosters a healthy connection between sponsors and children via such means as:

  • Exchange of letters, allowing the sponsor and the child to learn about each other. Letters are translated if necessary.
  • Sharing of an annual academic progress report and an end-of-year update on the child’s overall development and well-being.
  • Children may send such things as handmade cards to sponsors during special festivals.

Here’s what a full sponsorship provides a child:

• One balanced, nutritious meal daily
• Educational materials, including books, stationery, school bags, and uniforms
• Clothes and shoes
• Professional counseling services
• Medical care, including regular check-ups and necessary treatments
• Extra tuition to support schoolwork
• Fees for any additional educational courses the child wishes to enroll in
• Extracurricular activities, including outings, plays, picnics, and educational trips
• Family assistance during unexpected events (e.g., family illness, home damage)
• Recreational events, such as birthday parties and game days
• Transportation to and from school
• Festive parties to celebrate popular festivals
• Monthly awareness programs on various topics such as health, hygiene, avoiding different forms of abuse, healthy relationships, etc.

Impact: Since its inception in 1989, well over a 1,000 children have had the opportunity for a better start in life through this program. Need is typically greater than availability of sponsorships and each gift makes a difference.
