Most of our founders and many of our members have experienced Deep Griha’s work on the ground personally through visiting, volunteering, or playing a role in its early development. We now, however, also have many board members and supporters who join in the effort simply because they are inspired by the work they see in action and are excited to be a small part of such impact-filled, community driven initiatives.
DGUSA strives to not only raise funds for Deep Griha’s work, but also to increase awareness of the organization and its accomplishments. We also work to support them in meeting new, locally identified challenges and assist in coordinating global communications with other international partners such as Friends of Deep Griha, UK.

ABOUT DEEP GRIHA SOCIETY
Deep Griha has been making a difference in individuals' lives since 1975. The organization was started when Dr. Neela Onawale and her husband Rev. Bhaskar Onawale began a one-room clinic to treat the residents of Pune’s marginalized communities. With the help of like minded friends, they established Deep Griha Society as an independent charitable organization and began operations in July of that year. Within two years it was serving more than 100 people a day. Since then, Deep Griha has constantly expanded and adapted its services in response to community need and available opportunity, now helping equip and empower thousands of community members across the lifespan annually. Living into this work, much of Deep Griha’s staff comes from the communities they serve.
